Zac Sheffer Recognized as one of New England’s Future Business Leaders

Posted in News

Congratulations are in order for our founder and CEO, Zac Sheffer, who was recently recognized as one of New England’s future business leaders in innovation and technology by the Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange (MITX). Zac was among eight people selected for their leadership skills, entrepreneurial spirit and early impact on the Massachusetts innovation ecosystem, and named to the 2017 MITX Future Leaders Group (FLG).

In a few short years, Zac has developed an industry-changing idea, built an impressive team, closed and quickly executed on a deal with one of the world’s largest financial institutions, and is well on his way to making an impact toward modernizing an entire industry.

Zac is the heart and soul of Elsen and had played a critical role in every major decision that has helped the company grow – from recruiting and managing an executive team, to developing partnerships with world-class companies. He’s proven his abilities as a leader and motivator of our growing team, and we can’t think of a better choice to represent the young, future leaders in and around Boston.

Zac is already a passionate member of the Boston tech community. A Northeastern University grad, he is active with his alma mater’s mentoring and co-op programs and is still closely involved with the school’s student-led venture accelerator, IDEA, where Elsen got its start. He is also heavily involved with FinTech Sandbox, a Boston-based nonprofit that provides resources to startups in the fintech industry. Elsen was among the organization’s inaugural class in 2015 and Zac received its "Give Back Award" in 2016. Zac is also a regular speaker at events around the city and on September 8 at 11:30 AM will be presenting at the MIT Executive Education Custom Program/SESCON-SP alongside Elsen’s Head of Quant Analytics & Research, Andrew Breton. Congrats to Zac and the whole 2017 FLG!

Day-to-day, Jim is responsible for managing business development with channel partners, promoting positive customer engagements, and driving operational excellence across the company. He makes sure Elsen can scale successfully as it grows.

Before joining the Elsen team, Jim gained extensive experience in building technology businesses in both large and startup companies such as EMC/DELL, Akorri, NetApp, Sun MicroSystem, and Pirus.

Jim is most excited about how Elsen is creating a paradigm shift in how financial services use modern technology to significantly accelerate their research. When he’s not at Elsen, Jim is likely playing guitar, biking, enjoying good food and wine, or playing poker.

Jim holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State University.
