TUGG is a community engagement platform that connects New England tech entrepreneurs with under-resourced social enterprises serving worthy causes and at-risk populations. We’re proud to be a part of last week’s event and the largest Tech Gives Back in history!
Tech Gives Back, born in Boston, is the largest philanthropic event in Massachusetts and has expanded 10x since being founded in 2010. Last year, 2,000 Boston tech workers from 75 companies came together to volunteer at more than 45 nonprofits, totaling over 6,000 hours of community service.
Located at 39 Boylston Street, SFH is the largest day shelter in Massachusetts, serving an average of 500 poor and homeless men and women a day, 365 days a year. We are so grateful for the crew at SFH for their hard work every single day to support our community. Follow @SFHBoston on Twitter and learn more by visiting: stfrancishouse.org.
Elsen has supported TUGG events annually through sponsorship or hands-on volunteering. This year, we were joined by workers from a few other local tech companies to support St. Francis’ operations. Some volunteers worked with guests in clothing distribution while the Elsen team spent time in the kitchen preparing food for guests. We are very appreciative of the warm welcome we received from the SFH crew and for showing us the ropes – even praising us for our efficiency and organization! And, we learned how to make awesome hash browns en masse.
The day concluded with a Thank You Party for sponsors, participants and nonprofits hosted by TUGG at District Hall (75 Northern Ave. in Boston) with free food and drink as a thank you for volunteering.
A BIG shout out to TUGG for organizing a meaningful day and connecting Boston’s talented workforce with some of our city’s incredible nonprofits. To learn more about Tech Gives Back 2019, visit: https://tugg.org/tech-gives-back-2019.
